    Since the 2011 summer season Donovaly has become the centre for bike tourism in the Starohorske vrchy region thanks to the renovation of older bike trails and the creation of new ones.
 
    The bike trails, short or long circuits and other open-ended trails, are signposted in such a way to provide from 1 to 8 hour rides, on either mountain or road bikes, that can be ridden by riders with a wide range of abilities from families with small children, teenagers, adults, senior citizens through to more hard core riders.
 
    With the renovation of the older bike trails that formed the southern leg of the Donovaly bike trail (Donovaly – Slovenská Ľupča – Banská Bystrica) and the gradual creation of newer trails in the first stage (2011) and second stage (2012) there are now 42 bike trails with a total distance of 375 kms of marked bike trails ready and waiting for fans of this sport.
